I know the Alaska Bicycle and Pedestrian Alliance blog, http://akpedbikealliance.wordpress.com/, I put together isn't ready for the list, since the blog is only a few months old and has a limited audience. But I was disappointed to see Kiril Kundurazieff's excellent Cycling Dude blog, http://www.cyclingdude.com/, didn't receive a mention on your list. Cycling Dude is worth checking out, if for nothing more than the list of links down the right column of the page. Also, as an Alaskan I was happy to see you include Jill Homer's Up In Alaska blog at No. 11. I enjoy reading about her adventures, especially riding her Pugsly through the winter snows.

What about something like FixedGearGallery.com ? Did it miss the top 50 or does pure bike porn not fit the criteria? It's not really a blog in the common sense of the term, but it's certainly a fine example of a web log of bikes. And it's had a lot of influence on, I was "reading" that site way before anything else.

Hi Winona,

Thank you for coming forward with the ACA blog. It doesn't seem to show up yet in the top 50 but it sounds like your engagement strategy is gathering some great steam aka FB and Twitter, that's impressive! Keep up the good work! Engaging with the Top 50 may bring even more steam to your wonderful action!

Cheers

What a great post. Thought I'd chime in for Adventure Cycling Association -- not sure if we're on your radar yet. We've worked hard over the last year to build our blog (http://blog.adventurecycling.org/) and our social media presence. We have just over 7400 "likes" on FB (http://www.facebook.com/adventurecycling) and around 2,000 followers on Twitter (http://twitter.com/advcyclingassoc). We also moderate the FB page for the U.S. Bicycle Route System (http://www.facebook.com/usbrs) which has over 11,000 "likes".

Our goal with all of these spaces is to inspire more people to travel by bicycle and we get a lot of blogging inspiration from many of the top 50 blogs on your list. What a great community! Hope we can work our onto (and up) your list someday. Thanks for the great post.

Anonbostonbiker, see my reply to Lauren Giff above. Like you pointed out we tried to explain that blogging is not the only method to build an audience and influence whom many are missing. Blogging is still the mothership of new media represent a good baseline for measurement. Clearly we didn't mean that this list ranks influence by topic or specialty which would be another entire different study. I hope like we did learn from a few cool new blog out there. Cheers, Yann

Hi Lauren and thanks for pointing this out. Our method is clear we look at influence through through the eye of the community, not through the amount of traffic or google indexing. Readership and popularity is one thing, reference from other influential bloggers is another. Cylocosm.com is certainly a great blog and seem to rank around #59 in our list. We had to cut somewhere... Rudyride is a bit futher back but will certainly move up over time. I personally love its pictures.

You egregiously missed cyclocosm.com, which outclasses many of your "top 50" both in facebook followers (and that's after just opening the page this week), as well as in twitter followers. Safe to assume it outclasses a lot of those blogs in terms of wit and quality of content, too. Just sayin.' How in the world did you miss this one?
